It's Our Anniversary!

Happy Monday!

I just wanted to start off this new week by noting an important milestone. Yes, Heidi and I are very happy to have celebrated our 7th anniversary on Friday, June 1, and we're really proud of that. But I'm talking about the blog - we have an anniversary too!

June 1, 2011 was the first day I posted anything on My Life With Pie. I had a vision of what I thought the experience might be like, but I never could've imagined then that it would be as fun and as challenging as it's been to maintain this blog. I didn't know whether my words would resonate with people, how large (or small) an audience I'd have, what the response would be, how much material I was capable of generating - it was all a big question mark.

Good morning, everyone!

So this Monday isn't just another Monday to me...today marks the 2nd anniversary of my best friend Ken's passing.  We called each other "Boo," and I still don't know how that got started, hence the title of this post.

Those of you who know me know that I'm the sentimental sort, so anniversaries like today's are important to me. I know many of you out there knew and loved him as well, so our Photo of the Week is a great pic of Ken in his prime, as I want to remember him, way before cancer or chemotherapy were a part of his reality. He was a vibrant, exuberant, gregarious, wonderful person who enriched the lives of all who knew him and were fortunate enough to call him a friend.

Happy 40th Anniversary!

Today is a special day: it's my parents' 40th wedding anniversary!  I just wanted to take a moment to commemorate that because these days, that kind of staying power is hard to find.

My parents have always been good role models of what it means to be committed to your marriage and your family.  Like everyone, they've had their trials and problems along the way, but instead of letting it tear down their strong foundation, they let it build that foundation up further.  Through good and bad times, happy times and tough ones, illness and stress and joy, they've stayed together. I hope I am blessed to have the same success in my relationship.

So, Happy Anniversary, Mom and Dad!  I am proud of you and I love you!
