Friday Fun: Who's The Boss??

Women run my life. I make no secret of this fact. What’s funny is that, lately, the smallest and youngest of them all has been the most vocal. As long as my mini-dictator is by my side, nothing can go wrong…right?

  • Anna: “Mom, where is your other hand? You should drive with both hands to be safe.” Me (putting my coffee in the cup holder and my other hand on the wheel): “Ok, you’re probably right.” Anna: “Coffee is for later. You don’t want to bump another car.” Geez, it’s like having the physical embodiment of my conscience in the backseat! LOL.
  • “I just said no two times already!!” Well, excuuuuuuse me!
  • Me: “Anna, come eat dinner.” Anna: “Right now I’m making coffee for my presentation.” Yep, another grown-up word that floored me.
  • “Emmett can’t come in here!” (slams door) – I’m pretty sure he understands this about as much as he understands that Anna is the line leader….
Random exclamations & stuff:

  • As Anna’s toy egg rolls off of her spoon and under the table: “Oh no, there goes Eggbert, to the yard sale!” This is a combination of a Backyardigans episode and Toy Story 2.
  • “Look, it’s a penny pig!” (guinea pig)
  • “My stuffed bird is shivering! Can I dip him in your water?” Not sure about the logic here, given that I drink cold water, but he has a long beak, so I thought, why not?
  • “Can we watch the alligator eat rats again, can we, can we?” We accidentally stumbled upon this video online when I ran a search for “alligator kids videos” and supposedly this counted as a “kids video,” I assume because there was a field trip to the zoo where this feeding occurred. Now, Anna often asks to watch this video of zookeepers feeding big dead rats to the giant gator. What happened to sugar and spice and everything nice??
This week, Anna has learned to use the camera on my iPhone!

  1. I am supposed to be the boss but I have a sneaky suspician that jillian is in charge.  She has way too much power for a 4 year old.  I need to take it back.

  2. Same boat here! It's tough because you want to be loved and respected...but you don't want the to get away with murder either.....I need to get a bit tougher but I've already set a precedent so who knows how that'll turn out!
