Our Kelsey is going to have her first child next summer. We were surprised, slightly freaked out, and a little worried, as parents sometimes are when they find out their "baby" is going to have a baby of her own. But we are also very happy for her because she is happy, and we know she's going to be a wonderful mom. And I for one am super excited about having a baby in my life again! I loved those snuggly baby days with Anna and I am sure I will love snuggling with my grandbaby.
The most amusing part of all of this for me, so far, has been Heidi's attempts to figure out what she wants to be called. She's having a bit of a harder time than I am with the term "grandmother" or anything like it - grandma, nana, grammy. I take these things in stride. Those terms may feel a bit foreign at first, but I figure the kid will call me whatever he/ she wants to, and there's not much I can do about it.
Even though I feel way too young to be somebody's grandma, at the same time, I think of how awesome my own Grandma is and always was, and it makes me feel good about being able to be there for my grandchild in the same way. There's something special about grandmas and their grandkids!
Now I'm just excited to find out if it's going to be a girl or a boy!

ReplyDeleteCongratulations! You'll love it.
ReplyDeleteThat's huge news! Baby to be will be surrounded by love and support and grandmas- sounds like a great start in life.
ReplyDeleteMy mom is called MumMum by the boys.
ReplyDeleteMimi seems popular with younger grandmothers. Marcie goes by Lola. I looked up options for her and apparently it means grandmother in Philippino. Congrats!
