Photo of the Week: Hey Batter, Batter!

Happy Monday!  I hope you all had a fabulous weekend.

We're kicking off another work week with our photo(s) of the week. Having been a big baseball fan in my younger years, when I encountered a giant plastic bat and ball at the grocery store last week for only $3.50, I couldn't resist.

Anna was so excited to get home from school to find the bat and ball waiting for her. Thankfully, it was a lovely evening so we could practice in the yard. I should get her a tee when I'm able to, but in the meantime, hopefully this bat is fat enough that she can learn to hit with it!

Sometimes Age Is Just a Number

As parents, we're all careful to look at the suggested age range when we buy a new toy or game for our children.  The primary reason for doing so is, of course, to prevent exposure to tiny parts that may cause young kids to choke.

Otherwise, the age limit is supposed to indicate that a child is developmentally ready to handle whatever game or toy is is.

Friday Fun: Technology

I confess that it makes me feel a little bit old when I see all the cool gadgets and electronics that our kids have now that simply did not exist when I was Anna's age. I could barely operate my mini-arcade version of Frogger, much less anything more complicated.

Anna, however, is a tech whiz. The other night she decided to take some pictures of the bed and of me and whatever else she saw, using my iPhone.  Some of them actually looked like they captured what was intended!

Fall Carnival Fun Anytime!

Last weekend, Anna’s day care held a Fall Carnival. It was our first such undertaking, and I enjoyed being a part of the planning. 

We decided to have about 10 kids’ games, art stations like mask making and decorating paper pumpkins, a photo booth, a yard sale table, and a bouncy house.  Of course, we also needed food, so we decided to serve hot dogs, apple cider, cotton candy and other light refreshments.

As the event drew closer, I wondered how we were going to get everything accomplished with just the small number of parent volunteers we had. But we did it! I was very proud of the way it turned out, and all the kids had a great time.
