Photo of the Week: Sunflowers!

I am enjoying the first little taste of fall in the air, but I have to admit I enjoyed seeing a bit of summer coming to life even so late in the season.

Earlier this year, Anna planted some sunflower seeds that had come in an adorable Dora the Explorer flower planting kit. We watched them sprout slowly inside, and then transitioned them to a larger pot on our deck.

Then we waited. And waited. And waited some more.

Finally, after all these months, our patience has paid off. The sunflowers have arrived!

Anna is so proud of these because she grew them herself. She did a pretty good job of watering them and checking on them frequently. She is a bit sad that they won't last too long because it will soon be cold. But for now, they bring back happy memories, serving as a lovely reminder of the wonderful summer days that precede our long winters.

We will enjoy them as long as we can!
