With Imagination, I'll Get There

Anna's evolving imagination never ceases to amaze and amuse me.

Here is her longest made-up story yet, which she told me the other night. It went something like this:

Holding up a baby doll:  "This baby was in my belly a long time ago. She was in my belly and she almost came out to play with me right before I was born. She came out and I called her Targo. (Confused expression) Do you think she's a girl? I think she's a girl.

"Targo"

"Anyway, Targo was in my bed and she made scratches on my bed, see?! And I got mad and gave her a time out and told her to never ever scratch it again. And now I have to feed her cuz she's hungry."

Where did Targo come from, you may ask? I have absolutely no clue.

Several days later, Anna decided she wanted to be a cowgirl like Jessie from the Toy Story movies.  So we got out her jeans and brown boots, and a summer hat that worked as a cowgirl hat. Then I found a string in the basement for her "lasso."  All we lacked was a Western-style shirt, but she didn't seem to mind. Then she went to our friend's daughter's birthday party in character.

Anna the cowgirl!

I never know what she'll come up with next, and I don't even try to guess. It's just fun to see what happens.  I'd love to hear your kids' stories and the amusing products of their evolving imaginations! Please share them in the comments.
