What Rejuvenates You?

As I stare at the computer screen before me, my tired eyes squint because it's taking my utmost effort to concentrate. Sometimes the letters blur in and out of focus as my eyelids attempt to close. I'm not giving in, but I've gotta tell you, it's hard. And coffee isn't enough to help this time.

Recently, my family and I have had some good things happen to us, which has been a much-needed happiness booster. Yet, like so many things, there's the high.... and then the crash. Last week was amazing. And I'm still happy, but the lethargy is starting to creep in again. There is a tiredness in my bones. My adrenaline sustained me for awhile, but it's flagging now.

Zonked after a day at the beach!

What I've gotta figure out is, how to I combat it? How do I hold onto the wave of happiness I felt last week and let it continue to lift my spirits and energy now that I'm running out of adrenaline? How do I push forward and execute my responsibilities at work and at home in the best way I can? (Heck, at this point, I'd settle for not passing out in front of the computer!)

So I'm going to do something I don't normally do, since I'm almost too tired to even write this post. I'm going to enlist your help. I want YOU to write the post. I want you to share your secrets to rejuvenation in the comments or on our Facebook page or in an email to mylifewithpie@gmail.com.

Seriously. Tell me what motivates you and energizes you when all you want to do is nap. We've all been there. And those of us who are parents have to be master multi-taskers. So I know you've got ideas, whether you have the energy to use them or not. They may be obvious, like getting exercise or visiting a friend. Or they may be off-the-wall. That's great. I want to hear them, and I bet you readers do too.

The great thing about blogging is that it is a shared experience with people all over the place. I know I've got some readers out there, even readers outside the U.S., which amazes and thrills me. So, the idea is that if we all pool our collective wisdom, we will all be better off, right? The only way to find out is if you respond. So please get to it! I'll check the blog e-mail right after I nap.

PS - I do NOT post these at 6:00 every morning. I pre-set them to do that automatically. At 6:00 I am still trying to get in a last little bit of sleep. :)

  1. Let's see, to get motivated, or stay motivated I do a couple of things:

-Call a friend to talk to me while I clean
-Exercise, for some reason no matter how tired I am after, I always feel rejuvenated
-Start a craft project: just started crocheting a baby blanket for a family member, it makes me feel great to make something with my hands and it helps get my mind out of a slump

Sometimes I just give in and take a nap, I have to admit.  And sometimes I have a hard time getting out of a slump.  I try to remind myself that it is temporary, I always bounce back and I just need to hang on till the energy comes back.

  2.  Yay! Thanks for commenting; I can always count on you to get involved in our discussions. :) Love the project idea - it especially reminds me that reconnecting with that inner creativity is definitely a good mood lifter and energizer for me. Even drawing that silly owl made me happy. Great ideas!
